Installing OB-X8 presets is easy. You just need the following:

Requirements
  • Computer
  • USB cable
  • MIDI utility software such as SysEx Librarian (Mac) or MIDI-OX (Windows)
  • OB-X8 keyboard or desktop module

Complete installation instructions are included with your presets download. These instructions are also given below for Mac and Windows.

Back Up Your Existing Sound Banks!

Before you install your Blue River Sounds OB-X8 presets, we recommend that you back up your existing sound banks for future use. Consult your OB-X8 users guide if you don’t know how to do this.

This is important because loading Blue River Sounds presets will overwrite user presets currently in the same destination preset locations. If you have programs you want to keep, save them as a SysEx file using a MIDI utility application such as SysEx Librarian (Mac) or MIDI-OX (Windows).

To prepare the OB-X8:
  • Press the global button on your OB-X8.
  • Use the bank/scroll knob to select the midi sysex cable command.
  • Use the group/value knob to set it to usb.
  • Press the global button again to exit the Global parameters.
  • Connect your computer to the OB-X8 using a USB cable. It will appear in MIDI-OX and other MIDI applications as a MIDI port named “OB-X8.” (Under Windows XP, it will appear as “USB Audio Device.”)

ON MAC
